Jurassic Fish

A fantastic fossil fish has just returned from conservation and is now on display at Bedford Museum.  For more information, please click here.

“Thanks to Mr S R Walker of Cople and Lund Conlon Removals, the Museum now has the first electronic fruit machine to make its appearance in Bedford.  Made in Chicago in 1965 “The Happy Legionnaire” was installed in the Broadway Club.  After the fire at the club, Mr Walker restored the machine to working order and it spent a year in the Concorde Café in Castle Road.  If you played on it in its heyday or went to the Broadway Club, we would love to hear from you.  We plan to restore the machine to its original appearance and have it working in the Social History Gallery.

Lund Conlon provided free transport to the Museum and Mr Lund Conlon has also given the Museum an early 20th century (non-interlocking) jigsaw.  There’s no picture to go by, so we are looking for jigsaw friends to have a go at completing it.  Please phone Ann Hagen on Bedford 353323 if you are interested.”
