Belemnites |
Belemnites are marine creatures. Their fossilised remains are often found with those of the related ammonites. The bullet-shaped fossil is actually part of the creatures internal skeleton called a guard. The folk-name for belemnites is Devil’s Thunderbolts. Belemnite guards are extremely common fossils in the Oxford clay. The most common species found is Cylindroteuthis pusoziana.
