Cecil
Higgins Art Gallery and Bedford Museum gain national quality standards
Cecil Higgins Art Gallery and Bedford Museum have both been officially ‘Accredited’ by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA).
The Museum Accreditation scheme sets nationally agreed standards for all museums in the UK. The awards given to the art gallery and museum prove that they measure up, meeting the guidelines on how they are run, how they look after their collections and the quality of service they provide their visitors. The art gallery won special commendation on their display policy and scholarly publications.
Director, John Moore, said “We are delighted to receive these awards that recognise both the quality of our collections, exhibitions and publications, and the high standards of service we provide to our visitors.”
Mark Wood, Chair of MLA, said “Being awarded Accreditation is an impressive achievement. It recognises the high standard and service that both the Cecil Higgins Art Gallery and the Bedford Museum provide and acknowledges the hard work of the staff. Many congratulations!”
The Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) is the national development agency for museums, libraries and archives, advising the government on policy and priorities for the sector. MLA’s roles are to provide strategic leadership, to act as a powerful advocate, to develop capacity and to promote innovation and change. Visit the MLA website at www.mla.gov.uk
